Hardware

The software is the easy half.

A system is worthless on a tablet that will not charge. So we researched the Kenyan suppliers, compared three per category, and we install it — working, before your first guest arrives.

Tablets

For the desk, the kitchen display and service. One model, sourced from three suppliers, so a broken one is replaced within a day.

Point of sale

Touch terminal, thermal receipt printer, cash drawer and barcode scanner. Restaurant, bar and reception on the same till.

Payments

One terminal for card, M-Pesa and Airtel Money, with pre-authorisation for a deposit at check-in and next working day settlement.

Key cards and locks

RFID room locks, the encoder at reception, and the card holder that switches the room off when the guest leaves.

Wifi that holds

Access points, a switch with power over ethernet and a controller — because guest wifi is the first thing a review complains about.

The rest of the room

Linen, towels, amenities, uniforms, safes and minibars — from suppliers we have already vetted and negotiated with.

Three suppliers per item, on purpose

We researched the Kenyan market and picked the three strongest for every category — tablets, point of sale, payment terminals, locks, networking, linen, amenities, uniforms, kitchen and laundry, housekeeping and furniture — with their prices and their contact details.

Three, not one. A single supplier means a single point of failure: when the tablet you standardised on is out of stock, your kitchen display is out of stock too.

We are not a hardware shop. We buy on your behalf at the prices we have negotiated, and the invoice is between you and the supplier.
