Marketing
A booking that comes to you costs nothing in commission.
The channels are worth having. But every direct booking is the whole rate instead of eighty percent of it — so your own site, your own list and your own visibility are worth building properly.
Your own booking site
Rooms, rates and availability from the same system, so what a guest sees is what you have. No second calendar to keep in sync.
Findable
Structured data, fast pages, and a Google Direct Bookings connection so your own price sits next to the channels in search.
Newsletters that get opened
Segments from real booking history, subject-line A/B testing, and open and click tracking that is ours — not rented from a third party.
Where do guests come from?
Per channel and per marketing source: bookings, revenue, commission and what you actually kept. Plus returning versus new.
What a direct booking is worth
Take a room at KSh 12,000 a night, three nights. Through a channel at 15% commission you keep KSh 30,600. Booked directly you keep the full KSh 36,000 — a difference of KSh 5,400 on one stay.
Ten direct bookings a month is over KSh 640,000 a year that stays with you. That is the whole argument for owning your booking page, your guest list and your visibility.
And to be clear: the channels are worth keeping. They fill the nights you would not have filled yourself. The point is not to leave them — it is to stop paying commission on the guests who were already coming to you.
